The agricultural initiatives for market-driven income generation in the Telishli ecomigrant community

Project Description

The main aim of the “Telishli” project is to create new sources of income for the Telishli ecomigrant community, to promote economic activity of people severely affected by the floods in Kura river, significantly improve livelihoods of people, create jobs for them and contribute to the socio-economic development of the Telishli community. All the proposed activities are agriculture related. They will stimulate the development of this low-income community which has a big potential and traditions. Floods-related damage associated with climate change has increased the needs and constraints of the community even more. The implementation 5 project activities during three years will maximize output of agriculture activities. The project will improve socio-economic situation of the population. It will enable the community to have more confidence in its potential and provide sustainability of the activities.

Specific Objective

To promote community based initiatives for market-driven income and employment generation in the Telishli ecomigrant community of Azerbaijan.

Expected Results

- The irrigation system for the increasing of productivity of the community pasture and for growing environmentally friendly products improved;
- A workshop for producing Terekeme carpet established;
- Road Service cooperative for selling of crop and livestock products produced by community members built;
- Halep goats farm established;
- Pond farm for development of fishery established.
