Baku Food Hackathon

19/11/2021

We are hosting the most productive Hackathon this fall – Baku Food Hackathon!

On November 27-28 the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan will host the “Baku Food Hackaton” which is organized jointly with the Young European Ambassadors and EU-funded “AgroVision” project, implemented by Eurasia Partnership Foundation and Constitutional Researches Foundation.

The global pandemic has accelerated the need for innovation in agriculture.
Baku Food Hackathon challenges innovators from Azerbaijan to hack a technology that can solve the most pressing issues facing local farmers.

The main theme of the hackathon will be intensifying the urban-rural link and increasing national consumption of locally made food products. The real-life challenges that the participants will be working on will relate to the food grown and/or produced in the Lankaran region.

The hackathon aims to create dialogue, accelerate innovations in agriculture and find creative ways to bring farmers’ produce to the tables in big cities!

The purpose of the two-day event is to bring together representatives of the IT and Start-up communities in Baku with local food producers from the regions, to inform participants about the most important global, regional and local issues and opportunities related to local food production, distribution, and consumption.

The winning team will receive EUR 5,000. The teams to take the second and third places will each receive EUR 3,000 and EUR 1,000 respectively.

Experienced mentors will support the participating teams and assist them in developing the best possible solutions. By the end of the two-day intensive programme, the Jury members selected from among high profile national and international experts in the field of agriculture, tourism, and innovation will review individual team profiles and will give their final verdict on the winning idea.

A meeting with mentors will be organized on 27 November and 28 November will be a pitching day.

The hackathon will be held offline at one of the main hotels of Baku.

The Applications close on 21 November 2021, at 23:59 (Baku Time).
