The Supreme Attestation Commission is studying the Croatian experience in the field of accreditation and quality assurance of scientific institutions

On May 5-6, the delegation led by Famil Mustafayev, Chairman of the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a visit to Zagreb, Croatia.

The study visit was held within the “Strengthening Accreditation of Research Institutions and Quality Assurance process at doctoral studies level in Azerbaijan” project funded by the European Union.

The aim of the visit was to get acquainted with the Croatian experience in the field of accreditation and quality assurance and to support the establishment of a similar system in Azerbaijan. During the visit, meetings were held with officials of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, the Agency for Science and Higher Education, Ruder Boskovic Institute, as well as its excellence centres and laboratories where participants got closely acquainted with the work process.

At the meetings, participants obtained information on the policy and legal framework for quality assurance and accreditation in science and research, discussed financial and institutional issues for scientific assessments, studied expertise in initial accreditation for scientific activity, re-accreditation of scientific organizations, thematic assessment in science, re-accreditation of doctoral programs, digitization and experience of archiving assessments, discussed cooperation opportunities and reviewed quality assurance issues and achievements at the level of the scientific institution and its laboratories.
