Revival of carpet weaving traditions

The women of Telishli, Asmar Bakhishova, Nazakat Ibrahimova, Pari Azimova and others, who are keeping alive the Tarakama weaving tradition and who love carpet weaving, took advantage of the EU project to restore the art of weaving carpets. To set up a carpet workshop as part of the project, a local entrepreneur provided a 120-square-meter building free of charge to the carpet weavers. The project completely renovated the building, provided weaving equipment and hired an experienced carpet weaver, Fatma Agamirzayeva, as a trainer. The first two carpets have already been woven in the cooperative-based workshop.
