International Summer School in Azerbaijan: Apply Now!

For the 9th time, ICMPD organises the International Summer School on Migration. The summer school is a joint initiative by two ICMPD-led EU-funded projects: the “Support to the Implementation of the Mobility Partnership with Azerbaijan” (MOBILAZE 2) project and the “Prague Process: Dialogue, Analyses and Training in Action” (PP DATA) initiative – component of the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF).

The Summer School takes place in Azerbaijan from 9 to 15 July 2023.

ICMPD invites all interested candidates to apply before 2 April 2023, midnight CET.

International academic experts from the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford, University of Sussex, University Leiden and the Maastricht University Graduate School of Governance and ICMPD will lecture and mentor the students. They will mainly address the following issues: introduction to migration studies, migration and development, migration and the economy, perception of migrants and media and migration, migration law and human rights, etc. The one-week summer school will provide multidisciplinary and innovative academic and research-oriented lectures, seminars and projects on issues related to migration situations and migration policies in the EU, its Eastern neighbourhood and worldwide. Teaching will be accompanied by research, practical exercises and interactive discussions. In total, up to 50 students from migration studies, journalism/ media studies, international law/ migration law, economics, demography, history and/ or social and political sciences can take part in the summer school. Young professionals working on migration issues are strongly encouraged to apply as well.

Admission:

Citizens from Azerbaijan are eligible to apply. Some spots will be available for Azerbaijani applicants living in the EU.

Ukrainian students and young professionals residing in the EU.

All participants will receive board and lodge free of charge, travel costs will be organised and covered by the projects. The Summer School is free of charge for the participants. Only selected candidates will be contacted. Therefore, due to the high number of applicants, we highly recommend to refrain from contacting the ICMPD selection team with individual requests and inquiries. The deadline for applications is 2 April 2023.
