EU Youth Competition 2024

On Saturday, 2 March 2022, the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, in cooperation with Young European Ambassadors (YEA), conducted the third edition of the European Intellectual Competition (EIC) in Baku, dedicated to the European Year of Skills and implemented as part of the local EU funded “Get the Right Skills” campaign.

Having brought together young talents, aged 14 to 26, from various regions of Azerbaijan, the competition supports the promotion of knowledge about the European Union and its Member States amongst participants as well as its values and culture in an interactive way. The event encapsulates the feeling of team spirit while also developing analytical skills.

In his welcome speech, HE Mr. Peter Michalko, the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan, stated: “The EU is dedicated to supporting Azerbaijani youth in realizing their full potential through various programs on education and vocational education as well as study fairs, and this competition is a great example on how to improve your skills in an entertaining way and learn more about Azerbaijan’s longstanding and strategic partner- European Union.”

The YEA received 72 team applications (almost 300 people) from Khachmaz, Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Lankaran, and 18 teams making up a total of 65 young people were selected to participate in the competition.

The Ambassadors and diplomats of the Embassies of Belgium, Romania, Germany, Slovakia and France participated in the event.

The “Sinaps” team has achieved a triumph in the two-stage competition, followed by “The Rapture” and “Jong Ajax” teams, respectively. The winners were presented with awards by the EU Ambassador. All participants of the competition received certificates and promotional gifts.
