18/03/2022

As part of the European Union (EU)-funded Solidarity for Health Initiative, an online meeting was held for responding to questions about the continued prevention of COVID-19 virus infection in healthcare facilities.

During the meeting with the participation of WHO experts and national healthcare partners, the updates in the relevant WHO guidelines, the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in healthcare facilities in the event of a surge or resurgence in cases of COVID-19 were discussed. The WHO expert on IPC and Case management Mrs Jennifer Collins stated that IPC planning should be prioritized and provided a set of action steps to follow in the event of an impending surge in cases of COVID-19 in healthcare facilities.

WHO guideline provides a framework for action steps to be followed within 2-4 weeks of identification of a surge or resurgence of cases and is accompanied by references to existing WHO resources to assist with managing each step. This meeting is part of the continuous support to national health partners to strengthen national IPC systems in Azerbaijan.
