EU and UNDP announce two grant programmes for the civil society organisations in Azerbaijan

“Developing innovation-driven and sustainable civil society in Azerbaijan” project launches small grants programmes for the civil society organisations (CSOs) in Azerbaijan. 

As part of this project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP, two Calls of Proposals are open for the CSOs.

The first grant programme aims to support participation of CSOs in local development. The overall objective of this Call for Proposals is to increase participation of the civil society organisations as resourceful and influential players in local development processes and strengthen their role as development/transformation agents in sustainable development.

The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is USD 473,739. For this grant programme, it is planned to award up to 22 organizations that will submit the best proposals within the available budget. All projects under this grant should contain an inclusive community participation component and apply proven community assessment and participation methods.

The second grant programme
aims to support participation of civil society organisations in evidence-based policy development, policy dialogue and policy debate. The overall objective of this Call for Proposals is to increase influence of civil society organizations on policy development and strengthen their role as development/transformative agents able to voice & defend the interests of the citizens.

The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is USD 630,252.
For this grant programme, it is planned to award up to 15 organizations that will submit the best proposals within the available budget. All projects should contain a strong policy analysis component and apply proven research and data collection methods and analysis.

Projects must take place in the regions of Azerbaijan and the planned duration of a project may not be lower than 6 months nor exceed 10 months.

The Calls for Proposals will support project activities around the following priority themes:

1)       Gender equality and women empowerment

2)       Climate change

3)       Response to COVID-19 pandemic

Applications will be reviewed by a panel committee and applicants will be notified accordingly. UNDP may contact a CSO if more information is required.

An information session on both Calls will be held on 25 May 2022 online (Zoom) from 14:00 to 17:00. The applicants interested to participate in the information session should register by sending email toinfo.az@undp.org

CSOs can send their questions to: info.az@undp.org no later than 17 June 2022 by 18:00. Responses to the questions will be posted at UNDP Azerbaijan website.
