For Our Planet
Safe Water, Fresh Air, Clean Soil & Green Energy
The Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan started a public campaign “For Our Planet – Safe Water, Fresh Air, Clean Soil & Green Energy” to raise awareness about the protection of natural resources in the lead-up to COP29. Through a variety of activities such as seminars, outdoor and social media promotion, events, and a photo competition, the EUD hope to raise awareness about EU policies, priorities, and strategies for the management of natural resources and climate action. At the same time will help to promote the achievements of EU projects on the environment in Azerbaijan.
The campaign will motivate individuals and organisations to contribute to more efficient use of resources and to counteract some of the negative effects of climate change through practical steps.
Facts & Figures
About 10 hectares of forest are destroyed each year around the world. Factors such as agriculture, urban growth, logging and forest fires bring us face to face with these statistics and their consequences. Lost forests have serious impacts on biodiversity, climate change and ecosystems. Let’s unite to protect what we have and restore what we have lost.
The European Union continues its efforts for a greener world. Since 2021, 15 million trees have been planted. Undoubtedly, there is still work to be done on afforestation and forest restoration.
It is the duty of each of us to protect the ecosystem and its importance for a healthy life!
Protecting and restoring nature are one of the main goals of the European Union. We have committed to planting 3 billion trees by 2030. The goal is to fight climate change, improve air quality, and support ecosystems by naturally reducing carbon. Everyone’s support is important for growing these trees and returning them to nature.
Taking these steps together will create a greener future!
Let the world breathe! By 2050 the European Union aims to remove around 15 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere annually and is working in several directions to achieve this. Biodiversity, ecosystem restoration, afforestation and restoration, sustainable land management and the use of innovative technologies are just some of the various plans to reduce carbon emissions and increase carbon absorption capacity.
Let’s take steps that will benefit nature and protect the world!
Through the European Union’s #EU4Energy project, we are promoting the development of renewable energy sources and working to reduce our carbon footprint by increasing the use of zero-emission vehicles.
