The environmental impact of the fashion industry:
Every year 100 billion garments are produced and a total of 92 million tonnes end up in landfills;
Fast fashion brands are producing twice the amount of clothes today than in 2000;
The whole fashion industry generates 20% of global wastewater and 8% of greenhouse gas emissions, consuming far too many natural resources;
The number of times a garment is worn has declined by around 36% in 15 years. The throwaway culture has worsened over the years. At present, many items are worn only seven to ten times before being tossed.
