EU project to improve business climate and support economic diversification in Azerbaijan

An EU-funded project has been launched in Azerbaijan with the aim of strengthening the non-oil sector by improving the business climate and supporting the economic diversification of the country.

The main tasks of the EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum 2020-2022 project are devoted to the promotion of economic cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan, strengthening awareness of the business climate and investment opportunities in Azerbaijan, and enhancing public-private dialogue.

The Project is implemented by COWI Belgium in collaboration with the Italy-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce, the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and InvestBaku.

The project’s activities will include:

  • Developing an EU-Azerbaijan business environment overview 
  • Organising the annual EU-Azerbaijan business forum 
  • Sector-specific business missions to regions
  • EU business networking 

The EU is Azerbaijan’s first economic partner and represents the majority of its trade and foreign direct investments. Over 400 companies from various EU countries are currently operating in Azerbaijan.
