On 7 July, an EU-funded project for ‘Strengthening Accreditation of Research Institutions and Quality Assurance process at doctoral studies level in Azerbaijan’ was launched during a kick-off conference in Baku.
The project aims to introduce new mechanisms on accreditation of research institutions, and internal and external quality assurance processes at doctoral studies level, in accordance with EU best practices. The project covers activities in three areas, including drafting rules on quality assurance processes and accreditation, capacity building, and digitalisation of the accreditation process.
“Education and research cooperation creates an open flow of knowledge and expertise, playing a key role in the development of a prosperous economy and open society and in strengthening mutual understanding,” the Head of the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan, Kestutis Jankauskas, said.
Currently, 104 research institutions are functioning in Azerbaijan. Pilot accreditation of some of these institutions is planned to be carried out during the project.
