The EU Delegation conducts “Jobs of the Future and Future Skills” workshop

The Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan organised the final in a series of workshops as part of the “Get the right skills” campaign. The “Jobs of the Future and Future Skills” workshop brought together young people and EU Member States to look at the skills needed for future job markets. The workshop took place on 13 June, providing young people with motivation and an opportunity to network.

The event also featured campaign motivators Emin Khalifayev, a green energy expert and award-winning student as well as 10-year-old Mahammad Valili, a young inventor and robotics enthusiast.

“Various EU-funded initiatives and programs provide the Azerbaijani youth with the access to a wide range of opportunities for personal and professional development. Whether it’s through Erasmus+, scholarships or vocational training programs, the EU is dedicated to supporting the Azerbaijani youth in realizing their full potential. With this campaign we remind of the wide range of the available opportunities to gain the right skills for better jobs and salaries,” said Peter Michalko, Ambassador of the European Union to Azerbaijan.

The European Union announced 2023-2024 as the European Year of Skills, with the aim to give a fresh impetus to lifelong learning, empowering people and companies to contribute to the green and digital transitions, supporting innovation and competitiveness.The series of workshops that took place as part of the campaign meant to support young people with career planning, learning and scholarship opportunities, as well as inspiration to consider startups and entrepreneurship.

Since last September, the campaign organized various events reaching thousands of young people including an education fair, a youth competition, workshops, participation in a job fair, and various other activities promoting the importance of skills, especially in the context of a rapidly changing job market.

The European Union is a longstanding and strategic partner of Azerbaijan in many important areas such as higher education, vocational education, regional development, culture, health and others. With EU support many people have started businesses, engaged in agricultural production, learned new skills, and received training.
