- Education and vocational training
On 2 February, the EU-funded project for Modernising Vocational Education in Azerbaijan organised a first visit to the VET centres in Sheki and Ganja. The project was launched in August 2020 by the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan to strengthen the quality of the vocational education system (VET) in Azerbaijan and to improve its image and attractiveness among young people.
The project is worth 11.4 million manats and will last four years.
The aim of the first visit to Sheki and Ganja was to conduct an initial situation analysis and map current challenges. The participants discussed the possibilities to establish new workshops, career centres and learning factories, as well as dual degree programmes and digital innovations in local VET schools.
The EU-funded ‘VET for the Future: Development of VET Providers’ Excellence in Azerbaijan’ project aims to help modernise VET institutions in Azerbaijan, in order to deliver competence-based training that is tailored to the current needs of the labour market.
