The project will develop commercially viable value-chains in the vegetable and soft fruit sectors so that they will increase the household income of 5000 vulnerable women and men small-scale farmers in ten rural regions of Azerbaijan. The project has 3 major components: 1) Development assistance for 4000 small-scale vegetable producers; 2) Development assistance for 1000 small-scale soft fruit producers (80% women); 3) Building knowledge for mitigation of risks connected with climate change and natural disasters. The project focuses on development of private seed producers and nurseries and delivery of new productive seeds to farmers in both vegetable and soft fruit sectors; organizing farmers in production groups; Introducing farmers to the modern agricultural equipment and drip irrigation systems; improving access of farmers to market; improving knowledge and skills of private seed producers, nursery managers and farmers in various spheres; organization of fairs to demonstrate and sell farmers' products.

The specific project objective is to develop commercially viable value-chains in the vegetable and soft fruit sectors so that they increase the household income of 5000 vulnerable women and men small-scale farmers in ten rural regions of Azerbaijan

- Increased vegetable production of 4,000 small-scale farmers, incl. 2,000 women, through strengthening and facilitating linkages between value chain actors;
- Increased soft fruit (raspberry and strawberry) production of 1000 small-scale farmers, incl. 800 women, through strengthening and facilitating linkages between value chain actors;
- 50 target communities in ten districts are resilient to disaster risks and climate change;
- Vegetable and soft fruit value chain actors benefit from participatory, pro-poor, gender-sensitive and environmentally aware rural development programmes of the Ministries of Economy and Agriculture.
