The overall objective is to contribute to the diversification of economy and sustainable regional development in Azerbaijan, while reducing socio-economic disparities between regions. It will also strengthen local authorities’ capacity in management and territorial planning of regional development.
Project supported partners on national and local level in district diagnostics and planning, improved institutional capacities of of Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, State Tourism Agency, Small and Medium Business Development Agency, State Committee for Women and Children Affairs, municipalities, women entrepreneurship development associations as well as women entrepreneurs and local facilitators. 32 Local Development plans were elaborated by municipalities and 11 District Development Plans were prepared by regional stakeholders.

Regional inkişafın idarə olunması və ərazilər üzrə planlaşdırılmasında yerli idarəetmə orqanlarının bacarıqlarının gücləndirilməsi

- Current status, needs and potential for development in the nexus of agriculture and tourism in Ganja-Gazakh economic region are identified as inputs for discussions with local, district and national level authorities;
- Public – private cooperation on regional and local levels is promoted in Ganja-Gazakh economic region;
- Institutional capacity of local administration and communities is strengthened in the Ganja-Gazakh economic region;
- Local and District development plans developed including specific initiatives promoting agro-tourism;
- Pilot measures for development of the agriculture – tourism nexus identified and implemented by involvement of relevant stakeholders;
- Cooperation skills of authorities and other stakeholders regarding the multi-level planning processes are strengthened and lessons learnt are up scaled and disseminated on a national level.
